一、desk 名词。意思是“书桌、写字台、办公桌”。指供读书、写字、办公用的，桌面有平的也有倾斜的，一般都有抽屉。例如：
He often sits at his desk to write. 他经常坐在写字台前写作。
There are many desks and benches in the classroom.教室里有许多桌子和板凳。
Leave your key at the desk when you are out of the hotel. 离开旅馆时请把钥匙交到服务台。
二、table 名词。意思是“桌子、台子”。指供吃饭、游戏、工作之用，一般是平面的、无抽屉。从广义的角度看table包括了desk在内。例如：
That is a ping-pong table. 那是一张乒乓球桌。
Do you think six people can sit round the table ？你认为这张桌子能坐下六个人吗？
The girl came in and laid the table for supper.女孩进来摆桌子准备晚餐。
